New issue brief examines the Reading Sufficiency Act

CAP Tulsa Policy Research Specialist, Rebecca Fuhrman co-authored a new report with the Oklahoma Policy Institute regarding the Reading Sufficiency Act (RSA), calling for more funding and better planning to improve reading achievement.

The new issue brief provides an in-depth analysis of how this law will affect Oklahoma students and schools. It examines the history of the RSA, what current research says about third grade reading and retention, and how Oklahoma is implementing the law both in local school districts and at the state level.
